Where to Find Coal, Coralum Ore & Resources in Palworld 1.0
Knowing where to find key resources saves hours of exploration in Palworld. This guide covers the locations of coal, coralum ore, sulfur, and other essential materials in Palworld 1.0.
Where to Find Coal in Palworld 1.0
Coal becomes essential once you start crafting refined ingots. Each refined ingot requires two coal alongside two ore, so gathering a steady supply is a mid-game priority.
- Twilight Dunes: This desert zone on the central island is the most accessible early coal source. Look for dark rock nodes on the cliff sides — the same area where Anubis spawns.
- Northeast desert island: The large desert island in the northeast corner of the map is rich in coal deposits all across its surface. Bring heat-resistant gear.
A Metal Pickaxe is the minimum tool needed to mine coal. Setting up a base near a coal spawn point with Mining-specialist Pals can keep your furnace running around the clock.
Where to Get Coralum Ore in Palworld 1.0
Coralum Ore is used in a handful of late-game weapons. Unlike most ores, it is not mined from rock nodes. Instead, you gather it by fishing up ocean debris:
- Equip a fishing rod with magnetic lures. Standard fishing will not pull up coralum — you need the upgraded magnetic attachments unlocked via the tech tree.
- Fish in ocean areas. Cast your line into deep water around the coastlines. The debris nodes appear as floating objects that can only be harvested with the proper fishing setup.
Coralum is entirely optional for most playthroughs — the weapons it crafts are outclassed by later tiers. If you do need it, focus on the fishing method rather than searching the seabed.
Sulfur Locations in Palworld 1.0
Sulfur feeds your ammunition crafting line. The main source remains the volcanic region:
- Mount Obsidian: Yellow crystal clusters are scattered across the volcanic slopes. This single area holds more sulfur than all other zones combined.
Other Key Resources in Palworld 1.0
- Hardwood: A new 1.0 material used in advanced building recipes. It spawns in the same desert regions as coal — Twilight Dunes and the northeast desert island are reliable sources.
- Pure Quartz: Required for circuit boards and electrical components. The Astral Mountains snowfields hold dense clusters of quartz nodes.
- Crude Oil: Pumped from oil rigs offshore or extracted via oil extractors on Sakurajima Island. The extractor method requires base setup but gives a steady passive income.
- Hexolite Quartz: Found on Feybreak Island, typically in clusters of three near the red-grass mesa region. Used for high-tier electronics.
- Soralite Ore: Exclusive to the Sunreach floating islands added in 1.0. The Farcry Marsh area in the northeast has a dense grouping of six nodes.
- Paloxite Ore: Only appears in the World Tree region. Nodes vanish quickly unless you use World Tree Holy Water or keep certain World Tree Pals in your party.
- Mythical Wood: The third-tier wood type, also restricted to the World Tree region. Same vanishing mechanic applies.
Resource Gathering Tips
- Keep your pickaxe upgraded. A Metal Pick unlocks coal and sulfur. The Refined Pick and higher tiers improve yield per swing.
- Use base Pals for passive gathering. Assign Pals with Mining Lv 3 or higher — like Digtoise or Astegon — to your base to automate ore collection while you explore.
- Plan routes around respawn timers. Resource nodes reappear after a set interval. Rotating between two or three farming spots keeps your inventory full.
- Mark clusters on your map. Drop a pin each time you find a dense grouping of coal, quartz, or sulfur so you can return efficiently.
