Palworld Breeding Guide — How Breeding Works

Breeding in Palworld lets you produce new Pals by pairing two parent Pals at a Breeding Farm. The offspring is determined by averaging the parents' hidden breeding power values — not by species directly. This means any two Pals can produce an offspring that might be completely different from both parents.

With over 22,000 possible breeding combinations across all 299 Pals, the breeding system is deep and rewarding. Understanding how breeding power works is the key to planning efficient breeding routes for rare and endgame Pals.

To start breeding, you need two things: a Breeding Farm (unlocked at Technology Level 19) and one male and one female Pal of the species you want to breed. Place the Breeding Farm at your base, assign the two Pals to it via the monitoring stand or by throwing them near the farm, and they will begin producing Eggs.

Eggs take time to incubate. You can speed up the process by placing them near a fire or using an incubator. The Pal that hatches from the egg is determined by the average breeding power of the two parents.

Every Pal in Palworld has a hidden breeding power value (also called breed power or BP). This number ranges from around 10 (very rare Pals like JetDragon) up to around 1500 (very common Pals like Lamball). When two Pals breed, their breeding powers are averaged, and the Pal with the closest breeding power to that average is produced as offspring.

For example, breeding a Pal with BP 400 and another with BP 600 gives an average of 500. The calculator finds the Pal closest to 500 in the breeding power ranking. That is your offspring.

Some Pals violate this formula and are marked as special combinations. These include gender-restricted Pals and same-species-only combinations. The calculators on this site handle these exceptions automatically.

The Palworld Breeding Calculator automates the breeding power math so you don't have to work out averages manually. It has two modes:

• Find Parents: Search for any Pal, and the calculator shows every possible parent pair that produces that Pal.
• Breed Two Pals: Select any two Pals, and the calculator instantly tells you their offspring.

The calculator also includes all special cross-breed combinations that don't follow the standard breeding power formula, so you get accurate results every time.

• Breed from common Pals first. Start with low-cost Pals like Lamball, Cattiva, or Pengullet. Their moderate breeding power (800–1500 range) makes them versatile building blocks for chains.
• Use the shortest path. Some Pals can be bred through multiple chains. The shortest path uses the fewest generations, saving you time and resources.
• Exclude legendary Pals. Most legendary Pals (JetDragon, Frostallion, Paladius, Necromus) cannot be bred — they must be caught in the wild or obtained through specific special combinations.
• Plan your breeding chains. Use the breeding calculator to plan multi-step chains that start from common Pals and end at your target rare Pal.
